Hello friends. Today I’m sharing with you my spring front porch refresh. And to show you how I did it using items I already have.
By the time the warmer weather finally arrives I am SOOOO ready to embrace spring!! I bet you are too! And nothing says “hey it’s spring” like decorating your front porch, no matter its size.
But this year!! Quite a bit different!!!! With stores closed and limited opportunities for browsing or buying new spring decor and flowers. Time for creativity to kick in. Hello creative me right?!?
No Cost Spring Porch Refresh
Here’s my porch before…uninviting!! And blah. Tired looking after winter.

So here’s what I did. No cost, didn’t buy a thing! Just used what I had.

My bench cushion cover and pillow covers I made two years ago. But they had faded. Yet the underside of the cushion was like new – bright, vivid colors. So I reversed it and used the back side.

The pillow covers were envelope style. The front of the pillows were faded. It’s hard to tell in this picture but the green is barely visible and the other colors were “muted”. The back was much brighter. However the back of the pillow covers had the opening for inserting a pillow. Not very attractive!
So I dug out some left over fabric scraps and sewed a strip on the back to disguise the opening. Just added it to the top section so I still have the opening to insert a pillow. Glued some matching ribbon for a little more color. Much better now!

My green oblong pillow was REALLY faded.

So I reversed it and added a little decorative embroidery. An updated pillow and practice with my new embroidery machine. Win-win!!

My wreath is the same one I used last year.

My welcome garden flag is one I made at my first embroidery class at the end of February. I had different plans for my porch back then.

I don’t have any new spring flowers. Yet. For now I found some flower stems leftover from my wreath project and popped them into a flower pot.
However it’s very lightweight and easily blown over by the wind.
So my solution? I found a bunch of my husband’s golf balls in the garage and stuffed them into the pot. Added just the right amount of weight. Shhhh!! Don’t tell. But sometimes you gotta use what you have right?

I have some real flowers and plants from last year that my husband is slowly nurturing back to life.
A few other decor items. This one is one of my favorites!!

A little farmhouse touch with the layered mat and rug. I added little twinkle lights leftover from Christmas inside the black lantern. Battery operated and on a timer so no fuss!! A nice little glow on these early spring evenings.

And that’s my spring front porch refresh that I did by using and re-purposing what I already had. I’m quite happy with the results. Creativity to the rescue…making the most of the given situation.

Now I’m ready to enjoy my newly decorated porch. All while social distancing of course. It’s also the perfect spot to end the day…with beautiful evening sunsets.

With a little bit of creativity you can create beautiful, comforting spaces by simply refreshing what you already have.
